Evaluation

How pleased were you with the final film?

Overall I am very pleased with my documentary I am quite proud off my editing skills especially as I believe they have developed a significant amount. I definitley put a lot of effort into this project and i am very happy with the result

What things would you change if you had more time or in different circumstances?

If I were to repeat this task I would definitely organise my files better,

What were the main issues you faced?

I had some storage issues during the process of putting everything together and editing my film as some of the videos were originally 10 minutes each before i cut them down and so I had to use a hard drive to transfer some of the material but then premier, the software i was using to edit my work, couldn't locate my work as it was scattered around my computer and the hard drive,

What problems did you solve, how did you solve them?

The storage issue I faced I eventually solved by moving all my work individually onto the hard drive and completely separate from my computer, this took a while as by this stage most of the editing had been completed so i had to locate all the different images and video clips I had previously used and included in my film.

Which part of the project was the most enjoyable for you (filming, editing etc)

The editing, for me, was the part I most enjoyed as its where I really get to showcase my talent and skills and learn how to refine and improve them. This project in particular I learnt a lot about sound usage and the different types of sound effects and what they can do.

How did you find keeping up to date with the work and deadlines?

I managed quite well with deadlines as, in my opinion, that area i tend to be quite organised and up to date

What strategies could you put in place in future projects to help improve your "hard" skills (eg camera work, editing)?

It was difficult to get a good enough quality on the interview recording itself as, due to the national lockdown, I didn't have access to college equipment such as lighting and better quality cameras so instead I had to use my iPhone camera and a minimal lighting setup in my garage. But next time I would perhaps try to find a better location with better lighting and a cleaner set up to film the interview instead of my garage.
